100 Deadliest Days

May to September - Stay safe this summer

Eliminate distractions

Texting is among the worst driving distractions. It is illegal for a CMV driver to text while driving, and mobile phones must be hands-free. Keep your eyes on the road and pull over to a safe location if you must interact with your phone.

Obey posted speeds

Speeding remains the number one factor in more than 25% of fatal accidents each year. Follow the speed limit to reduce the risk of being involved in a crash.

Do pre and post trip inspections

Did you know that almost one-third of truck accidents involve a brake failure? Extreme summer heat can affect both brakes and tires. Make sure to check your equipment before and after hitting the road to avoid unnecessary incidents.

Share the road

Summer months mean crowded roads. Be on the lookout for cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists. Make careful wide turns and be aware of long stopping distances. Drivers should keep a following distance of one second for every 10 feet of vehicle length, with an additional second for speeds over 40 mph.
